Super Bloom After Dark Comes With a Regular Garden Ticket Only Until Mid-November

After sunset at Desert Botanical Garden, five walk-in glass houses light up along the trails, printed with oversized desert flowers. Nearby are seven flower-cloud benches, four flag corridors, four blooming pathways and a succulent chandelier. This is Super Bloom by Graphic Rewilding, which opened Oct. 9 and spans 21 locations across the Garden. The Garden's announcement says the installations celebrate desert flowers and pollinators by day and fill the Garden with "vivid light, color and shadow" after dark.

The exhibition is listed through May 31. For Arcadia residents a few minutes from Galvin Parkway, the important date is much sooner. The Garden lists its evening program, Fall Garden After Dark, as included with admission from sunset to 10 p.m. through Nov. 15. The Garden's holiday night program, Las Noches de las Luminarias, starts Nov. 27 and needs its own ticket. Once the holiday season starts, an evening in Papago Park costs more and has to be planned around a calendar.

The regular ticket covers more than usual right now

From Oct. 1 to Dec. 31, general admission at the Desert Botanical Garden starts at $32.95 for adults and $14.95 for children ages 2 to 17. Members get in free all year. The Garden is open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. for that whole stretch, except for closures on Nov. 26 and Dec. 25. Parking on site is free.

Through mid-November, that daytime ticket also covers the night version of Super Bloom. The Fall Garden After Dark page lists new glowing installations, seasonal botanical displays and the lit Super Bloom pieces, all "Included With Admission." So one ticket can cover a late afternoon on the trails and a walk back through the glass houses after dark.

The Garden's general admission terms exclude special ticketed events, exhibitions and classes. Luminarias is listed as a ticketed night event. On Luminarias nights, the holiday version of the Garden after dark calls for that separate ticket.

Inside the Cohn Family Butterfly Pavilion, the fall Butterflies exhibit includes Alex Heveri's Glass in Flight, a set of large glass pollinator sculptures. It's included with admission. The event page lists it through Nov. 15. The Garden's July announcement gave Nov. 22 as the end date for Fall Butterflies, so if the sculptures are on your list, plan around the earlier date.

Nov. 10 is the cheapest night of the fall

The Garden holds Community Day on the second Tuesday of every month, with pay-what-you-can admission of $5, $10, $15 or any amount you choose. The November Community Day listing sets it for Nov. 10, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

That Tuesday falls inside the Fall Garden After Dark window. On one evening you can see the lit glass houses for whatever you decide to pay. For a household of four, the regular rate for two adults and two children starts at $95.80. On Nov. 10 you set the amount.

Households with a valid EBT card have a separate option. Starting Oct. 1, general admission is $9.95 per guest, Sunday through Thursday, for up to four guests per card. It doesn't apply to ticketed events or classes, and the Garden doesn't accept P-EBT. Like Community Day, this rate works best during the Garden After Dark weeks, while the general admission ticket still covers the evening.

After Thanksgiving, two holiday light shows run on two different calendars

Late November is when the costs change, and the reason is that the Garden and the Phoenix Zoo schedule their seasons differently.

ZooLights runs every night from Nov. 25, 2026, through Jan. 15, 2027, from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. Luminarias runs only on set dates, 5 to 9:30 p.m. The 2026 Luminarias page lists Super Bloom, winter decor and expanded live entertainment as part of the event. Here's how evenings line up from now through mid-January:

Stretch Desert Botanical Garden at night Phoenix Zoo at night
Now through Nov. 15 Fall Garden After Dark, sunset to 10 p.m., included with admission No ZooLights yet
Nov. 23 No Luminarias ZooLights member preview night, $10 Member Monday tickets
Nov. 25 to 26 No Luminarias; Garden closed Nov. 26 ZooLights opens Nov. 25
Nov. 27 to 29 Luminarias, Friday through Sunday ZooLights nightly
Dec. 4 to 6 and Dec. 11 to 13 Luminarias, Friday through Sunday ZooLights nightly
Dec. 16 to 23 Luminarias every night ZooLights nightly
Dec. 25 Garden closed ZooLights season continues
Dec. 26 to 31 and Jan. 1 to 3 Luminarias every night ZooLights nightly
Jan. 4 to 15 Luminarias season over ZooLights continues through Jan. 15

Until Dec. 16, Luminarias runs only Friday through Sunday, while ZooLights runs every night. Through mid-December, that leaves Monday through Thursday evenings to ZooLights. Luminarias member tickets went on sale Oct. 1 and general admission tickets on Oct. 16, so prices and open dates are on the Garden's ticketing page now.

The Zoo's new Monday price changes the math for members

ZooLights tickets cost $30 for members and $35 for general admission. Children 2 and under get in free. This season the Zoo added a benefit it labels new. On select Mondays, members can buy up to six ZooLights tickets for $10 each. The dates are Nov. 23 for the member preview, then Nov. 30, Dec. 7, Dec. 14, Jan. 4 and Jan. 11. A member household that brings four guests on one of those Mondays pays $40. At the member rate, the same group would pay $120.

Those Mondays also line up with the calendar above. Every one falls on a night with no Luminarias, so members can go to the Zoo early in the week and save the Garden for a weekend.

This year's ZooLights includes five million lights along more than two miles of trail, a new floating Christmas tree light show on the water, and a new illusion trail called "Wander the Wonder, A Trail Less Ordinary." The Zoo says most animals won't be visible during ZooLights and suggests daytime visits for seeing them. Daytime hours from October through Jan. 17 are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Posted day admission is $44.95 for adults and $32.95 for children. General ZooLights admission is $35, less than a daytime adult ticket.

During the day, the Zoo's Dinosaurs in the Desert is back with a larger herd. It runs through April 30, 2027, and is included with general admission or membership. If you're visiting before the lights start, Spooky Safari is on Oct. 30, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., at $18 per person, with children 2 and under free.

Dec. 8 lines up three things on one Tuesday

Dec. 8 is a Tuesday with no Luminarias. That night the Zoo holds Sensory Friendly ZooLights, 5:30 to 10:30 p.m., with smaller crowds, quieter music and fewer flashing lights. It needs a separate ticket. Dec. 8 is also the second Tuesday of December, which makes it a Community Day under the Garden's monthly rule. The Garden hasn't posted a December listing yet, so check its calendar for that day's hours.

Plan for parking on the busiest holiday nights. The Zoo recommends carpooling and following its message boards. If its lots fill, signs send drivers to overflow parking at Phoenix Municipal Stadium, about a 15-minute walk on a paved, lighted path. The Garden's FAQ lists rideshare drop-off and pick-up, plus overflow parking during peak visits. On the Friday-through-Sunday Luminarias weekends in early December, both light shows run on the same evenings along the same stretch of Galvin Parkway.

On ordinary weeknights before Nov. 15, the lit glass houses and flower-cloud benches are included with regular Garden admission, and on Nov. 10 you choose what to pay.
